The Gallery of Wonders

The Gallery of Wonders

Everyone should see Venice when it is celebrating Carnival. Dating back to the twelfth century, Carnival is one of the world’s cultural wonders; an extraordinary mix of Christian customs and Venice’s peculiar fascination with masks and costumes that creates something altogether darker and more mysterious.

The Gallery of Wonders is the Official Dinner Show and Ball of the Venice Carnival; an opportunity for you to be part of a tradition stretching back more than eight hundred and fifty years. Comprising a welcome drink, five course dinner, a choice of desserts and digestifs accompanied by coffee, international class entertainment, live music, DJ and dancing, The Gallery of Wonders will be open to those lucky enough to be part of it on each of the eleven nights before Lent.

This exclusive event is held in the opulent surroundings of Ca’ Vendramin Calergi. Located on the Grand Canal in Venice, Ca’ Vendramin Calergi is one of Venice’s most sumptuously appointed palaces. Home today to the Venice Casino, it is a sheer delight for lovers of history and art alike. Built originally in the late fifteenth century, the palace’s interiors include many distinctive features: wonderful fireplaces, with mantels carved from stone, original paintings by the Renaissance painters, Palma il Giovane and Niccolò Bambini, and exquisite cuoridoro wall coverings.

Each evening runs from 8.30 p.m. to 2.30 a.m., six hours during which you will lose yourself in Venice’s magical past. With continuous performances, before, during and after dinner, characters drawn from across the arts, legend and fantasy will captivate and charm you throughout your time in The Gallery of Wonders.

At 12.30 a.m. it’s your turn to take to the floor. Two hours of dancing are accompanied by two inclusive drinks from the cocktail bar. Or, if you prefer, you can have a flutter in the casino, a privilege in the past was denied to Venice’s citizens if they chose to wear a mask, but which guests at The Gallery of Wonders can readily enjoy.

The Gallery of Wonders is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event; the best way to experience, in style, Carnival in Venice.
